For the June meeting of Ashton Hayes and Tarvin flower club we had our annual visit to a garden, arranged by June Pughe.

Thirty members and friends drove to Hatton House nr. Waverton. What an evening we had -- the weather was beautiful and balmy and the 8acre garden looked wonderful. We were lucky to be shown around by the gardener who also designed the garden. He was able to answer our questions and explain his ideas

There were several wild flower areas in which he proudly showed us 3 types of orchid which were there because of the good conditions provided by him. There were sculptures and follies to add to the appeal and a 2 acre lake as well as other water features. The walled garden was lovely and the rose garden smelled glorious. We were too late in the season for the wisteria arch but it must look and smell good a little earlier in the year.

The garden has been 10 years in the making and developing but is now almost complete. This year it was open to the public the 1st weekend in June for the National garden scheme but it is open to groups by appointment. It is well worth a short trip down the A41.

To conclude we sat and viewed the beauty whilst having lovely cake and a cup of tea.

The meeting on July 13th will be our A.G.M. but the business will be over quickly so come and enjoy the rest of the evening. I believe some refreshment is included so please let Merryn (740832) know that you are coming. 7-30 as usual in the Edna Rose room.
