The governors of Tarvin Primary School are pleased to announce that they have been successful with a grant application to our local Ward Councillors for a new bike shelter.

Councillors Hugo Deynem and John Leather are both provided with a Members Budget Award of £5,000 per year by Cheshire West and Chester Council. Following the governors detailed application, which met many of CWaC's THRIVE objectives, both Councillors have generously allocated £1,000 each.

The new shelter will provide cover for pupils bikes and scooters during the day, a facility that the school does not currently have. From survey information provided by parents it is also hoped that more families will now choose to ride to school which may help to reduce the traffic congestion at drop off and pick up times.

Having one new shelter which will house around 20 bikes is great news but, with the school already over the 260 pupil mark and growing, more are already required. The governors and PTA will be in touch in the coming weeks with a proposal for the local community which may help them to facilitate more cycle shelters and further combat the parking problem which is a frustration to so many.
