During January the Tarvin District Council met and discussed Sewerage, Water supply and Nuisance. It is reported that three village pumps were analysed : –
Top pump - not first class, contains too much lime and magnesia.
Middle pump – bad water not fit for domestic use.
Bottom pump – fairly good water, but nitrates high which points to previous contamination.
There are at least 20 other pumps. Local people do not use it for drinking but passing cyclists do. It was suggested they should dilute it with whisky !

January also saw the report of a concert, to raise funds for a new organ for the parish church, held in the public hall and organised by Mr. J. Lea and family of Stapleford Hall.
Sad news followed when we read of poor Arthur Edge whose shirt caught in a candle flame and despite Dr. Moreton's attendance the child died.
The Council stated that "water supply was as good and pure as could be expected for village water"

In February Mrs Potts of Abbeyfield provided tea for the Girls' Friendly Society and the entertainment by the Band of Hope included "lime-light pictures"

The Headmaster of the National School and Miss Agnes Johnson of Street Farm, Tarvin Sands were married in April by Rev. J.T.Evans. Schoolchildren lined the avenue from the Church gates. The honeymoon was spent in Sandbach and the presents were numerous and costly.

A report in May tells us that Holme Bank Cottage in the occupation of Mr.H.M. Sacre was sold ,at auction, to Samuel Newport of Manley for £900. Two pasture fields nearby were sold to Mr. Reece for £795. The sale took place at The Blossoms Hotel, Chester.

The summer months had reports of several trips and anniversaries. – Tarvin Sunday School had a trip to Rhyl – 20 traps and shandries travelled to Chester station. The Wesleyan Sunday School and the Methodist New Connection Chapel in Oscroft both celebrated Anniversaries. The Oscroft chapel made use of Tarvin Public Hall. The Church choir went to Blackpool for their annual outing.

In July Colonel Prewen had returned home from war in South Africa to the village gay with flags and bunting and "Welcome Home" over his gateway.

Chester Dairy Show was in October with 3 local successes. J.Parry of Oscroft won £20 for 2nd prize in a cheese class and also for cheese G.Lea was highly commended. Jos. Vernon of Stapleford won a 3rd prize.

A sale of work in The National school raised £12 for the Sunday school and a Parish tea and concert raised £20. During the same month, November, Yew Tree House at Tarvin Sands was to let. The rent asked was £30 per annum and the accommodation consisted of 2 Entertaining rooms, 5 Bedroom,Dressing room, Good Garden, Vinery Stable, Coach House, etc. and a small croft.

"Old Moss Farm" in Stapleford suffered a Great Fire.Tarporley and Chester Fire Brigades attended and the fire was confined to the stackyard. Mr Samuel Sherwin is the tenant of the farm.
