Free Family Day Out at Museum of Policing Open Day

The Open Day is being held at Arpley Street Police Station in Warrington on Saturday 10 September 2016.

The event, which is open from 10am to 4pm, will give visitors the opportunity to meet local officers and find out more about policing in the Warrington and Cheshire area.

Visitors will be able to take a tour of the museum and discover what it was like to be behind bars, back in the Victorian era.

There will be a whole host of policing artefacts to see, including handcuffs and shackles, murder weapons and police equipment. There will also be host of police vehicles on display.

Sergeant Rob Horton said: "The Museum of Policing open day allows the public to see how policing has evolved over the years. It gives them the opportunity to meet local officers and pick up some crime prevention advice.

There will also be plenty of activities for children to get involved with: hopeful detectives will be able to solve clues around the museum, have their fingerprints taken and dress up in historic and present day uniforms."

Police & Crime Commissioner, David Keane said: "This is a great opportunity for members of the public to learn about the history of policing. I hope the public of Cheshire come along and see for themselves just how much policing has changed over the years.

The Open Day is free to attend and will be a fun, family day out.
