The congestion caused by on-road parking at the Hockenhull Avenue/Tarporley Road junction has concerned the Parish Council for some time now. This small piece of road carries an increased traffic flow as cars access the Doctor's surgery and Hallfields Road in both directions.
When an earlier council built the OAP bungalows there was an assumption then that tenants were unlikely to have cars and no provision was made for off-road parking.

Talks with CW&C's Highways Department have indicated that there would be no objection to removing some of the grass verge and creating parking bays. However Highways do not have any budget for the work. Recently Councillor Hones met representatives of the Chester and District Housing Trust (CDHT) who own the properties, to see if they might consider funding the improvements. The Parish Council would also consider matching any CDHT investment.
It was agreed that CDHT would look at this to see if such a plan was feasible and affordable from their Environment budget. They will report back to the Parish Council soon.

Since then, one of the bungalows has had a drive installed, though the funding for this is not currently known by the Parish Council. This will probably ease the problem slightly and if other private driveways are created for other properties, then the congestion will become easier though the Parish Council believes that some parking bays may still be needed.

The Parish Council will be in a position to look at funding other projects in the future as it receives more funding through what is known as the New Homes Bonus, extra funding that follows the building and completion of new housing in the parish.
