Members of the Community Centre Committee were slightly surprised to discover at their last meeting that the Community Centre is designated as an Emergency Rest Centre in the event of a major emergency in the local area (i.e. if people have to be evacuated because of a serious fire, natural disaster or other major incident).

The Joint Cheshire Emergency Planning Team, a joint service of Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East Councils, has invited a Community Centre Committee representative to attend one of its regular Rest Centre Workshops, in Winsford next month, to learn more about the process , from "call-out" to closure. Obviously we all hope this knowledge will never need to be put into practice, but it is good to know such plans are in place "just in case"
