The New Municipal Year 2016 – 2017

The meeting of the Parish Council on Monday (May 23rd) was the first of the new 'year' and so there was the election of those who would hold office for the next twelve months.

Councillor Ted Lush was elected as chairman for the coming year, his fourth consecutive year as Chairman and his tenth as a Parish Councillor. Councillor Lush brings many years of experience in local government finance to the role, a most useful attribute in the fast moving world of budgetary changes. He is also the chair of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Committee, and in his spare time, is a Trustee and Treasurer of the Community Centre. His work load is prodigious.

Councillor Sue Hardacre was elected as Vice Chair, her second year in the role and her fifth year as a Parish Councillor. Councillor Hardacre is an active member of the Community Centre Committee where she looks after the publicity and marketing, and she also writes the 'stories' for the Parish Council for Tarvin Online.

The Council also took time to review the number and membership of its committees and working parties. The Council deals with its more specific business through a number of these, of which the most important is the Financial Working Party which prepares the annual budget for consideration by the full Council. Some of these groups are formed to look at individual issues and are disbanded when circumstances change.

The Parish Council also manages the King George V Playing Field as Trustee for the charity.

The Parish Council still has one vacancy and is looking to co-opt another member. If you would like to join the team and make a contribution to the life of the Parish, please call the Clerk on 01829 741075 or email miketarvinparish@aol.com
