playing field car park resurfacing

The Parish Council were delighted to report that the resurfacing of the Playing Field car park, and part of the pathway, has gone extremely well and achieved a very satisfactory result. Though closing of the field had caused some temporary inconvenience, access was available again by the Thursday afternoon, one day earlier than expected. The work was also completed under budget.

The Parish Council had hoped to complete some work to install a concrete table at the bottom of the Playing field. However concerns were raised about the weight of the proposed structure and the difficulties that would be encountered getting it into position without damaging the field surface. The table was to be installed to attract young people, who congregate in the far corner during the summer, to move further into the field and thus cause less disruption to nearby residents. After some discussion, it was agreed that a metal picnic table, similar to the one in the children's play area be installed on an appropriate matting base. If money is still available in the budget then repairs will be made to the turf around the two seats on the field which has become quite worn with use.

The budget for this work has come from funds made available for community improvements by Seddons the builder as part of their planning permission to develop Millside Close. Money from developers is one of the main sources for funding community improvements given the current state of local authority finances.
