In its 50th year of existence the Tarvin Tennis Club's Annual Tournament was contested as fiercely but as fairly as ever.

Despite short breaks for showers, five hours of play concluded with Peter Nosworthy again holding off the competition to retain his singles title, after which he added the doubles title with partner Mark Walker, a first-time winner.

Felicity Pochin is the new Ladies Singles champion and another new name on the honours board will be Ros Roberts, who partnered Judi Jennings to the Ladies Doubles title.

Rounding off the day at nearly 7 pm Catherine Mason and Graham Bunting won the Mixed Doubles title.

Thank goodness that throughout the long afternoon there were plenty of cups of tea and cakes to keep players and their many spectators going!
