With the church lighted only by candles, fairy lights and glow sticks, giving a truly Christmas atmosphere, over 300 residents enjoyed a traditional Carol Service last Sunday evening.

As well as the seven lessons telling the story of the nativity, and the well known carols, the church choir (supplemented by members of the Cathedral Chorale Ensemble) were in magnificent voice, singing Philip Stopford's "The Tree of Life" and "Lully, Lulla, Lullay", Michael Card's "Immanuel" and John Rutter's "Shepherd's Pipe"

The service was led by Rev Richard Tuckwell, and members of Tarvin Youth Choir enacted a short drama piece denoting the animals in stable.

The Christingle Service will take place in St Andrew's on Christmas Eve at 4.30 p.m, with Midnight Mass at 11.30 p.m

Christmas Day services are the 8.00 a.m Holy Communion, and 10.00 a.m Family Communion
