ST ANDREWS WOMEN'S GROUP
It was a full house at our April Meeting to see the work of the Rev. Rick Gates and to hear how he came from banking, into the Church and then become inspired to learn all he could about Icons and Icon painting.

Rick is a very talented painter and an inspiring speaker. He demonstrated his technique of mixing natural pigments with egg yolk and pure alcohol (Gin being the perfect ingredient).

His Icons are painted on wood, usually beech, which has been sanded many times and then sealed with a fine cheesecloth and rabbit glue. Eventually when a satin smooth finish is obtained the picture is outlined in charcoal and then the painting begins with the finest of animal hair brushes. Rick uses only natural and pure products to produce these wonderful images.

The large cross was painted especially for St Andrews Church.
