On 26.11.2014 we had our Annual General Meeting, in the main hall of the Tarvin Community Centre. The Hall was set out in Cabaret Style allowing members to chat easily during the meeting (that is when they were allowed!)
Following the Financial Report, our Secretary Margaret Matthews, gave a Report on our year's activities. She relayed information about the speakers we had listened to, outings to the Cinema, Theatres and Gardens.
At Tarvin Community Centre Summer Fair the Craft Group put on a display of WI Crafts, from the compulsory Jar of Jam to Toy Making.
She spoke of the success of the Book Club and Craft Club which are held once a month and our luncheon Club which is held every 4-6 weeks.
As you can see we have a busy schedule, so if you fancy joining us and taking part in any of the above activities, meeting new people and accompanying us on our outings please contact:-
our Secretary Margaret Matthews on 01829 741081 or
myself President, Irene Wilkinson on 01829 740868 for further details.
Following the AGM we were entertained by The Distaff Singers with their Musical Director Ian Oulton. The Distaff is a group of Ladies who sing for pleasure, while raising money for their chosen Charity C.L.I.C Sargent, which is a local children's charity.
We were able to listen to some Summer Music such as Diamonds are a Girls' Best Friend, My Favourite things, a sing along in the middle of First World War Songs followed by some Carols. They preformed a varied programme, which everyone enjoyed.
Following a thank you by Heather Excel, one of our members, the meeting ended with Tea and Cakes.
We would love to see you at our next meeting which will be held at:-
Tarvin Community Centre on Wednesday, January 28th starting at 7.30pm.
Our Speaker will be Robert MacGregor the 'Magic of Toys'.
Robert is a Toy Collector and Magician, so why not come and join us and retain the Magic of Christmas for a little longer.
Tarvin WI Members and I wish you all a Happy Christmas and we hope to see some of you at one of our Meetings in 2015.
