Meeting Time
3rd Tuesday in the month March to October (except August) at 8.00pm.

What we do
Gardening is a great way to exercise AND have something to show at the end of it. Tarvin Gardening Society is really good value and will be of interest to anyone who enjoys a garden, whether they tend it or want to look at one tended by someone else. There are regular talks in the summer months, trips and a horticultural show to satisfy those with a competitive streak. Visitors are very welcome to join us at all events, which includes entering the show. Membership for 2020 onwards is £10 per person. There is no charge at meetings for members, but visitors are charged £2 for each monthly meeting that they attend. Our membership card can be used to obtain discounts in some local establishments on plants, garden tools, fertilisers and composts.,

Topics for the 2023 season's talks include growing clematis, improving your garden, banquets for bees & butterflies, enjoying your garden in winter and producing better compost. Talks begin soon after 8pm and last for about an hour, with a hot drink and biscuits being provided thereafter. Preceding the horticultural show, there will be a talk explaining the correct ways to present your flowers, vegetables and fruit on the show bench. The show itself is on a Saturday in mid-August and is open to everyone. In addition to the usual classes – flowers, vegetables and fruit – there are sections featuring Floral Art, hanging baskets, a children's section and items from the Pantry. Adults compete for the glory, while children can win cash prizes.

Our mid-June meeting is always a visit to a notable local garden. The visit is in an evening, because some of our members are in gainful employment. Finally, the Society holds its Annual Dinner on an evening in January each year, while our Annual Meeting is kept brief and is held before one of the monthly meetings, often In March.
