Accessible Picnic Table for Woodland

There has been a picnic table in the Community Woodland for the last 10 years or so, but it has recently been showing its age as sun, wind and rain have taken their toll. 

Before the Woodland Trust was formed, the far-sighted Jim Grogan asked the City Council to prepare a report to provide guidance on the needs of people with disabilities using the woodland. This report has been in the background of our activities over the years, and most of the recommendations have been implemented. 

We have now taken the opportunity to replace the old picnic table with one that makes it easier for people in wheelchairs to sit with others. It is also made of a material that should last much longer. 

It is currently in the area that will be used for the upcoming Apple Pressing Day, but will be moved to replace the existing table after this event.
