Apple Pressing – 18th October-

Tarvin apple pressing rescheduled – all is not lost!

As most people will be well aware, Storm Amy meant that we had to cancel the apple pressing, due to be held on Saturday, 4th October. We are very conscious that a woodland can be a dangerous place in high winds, and the prospect of families being in the line of flight for airborne branches or low-flying gazebos didn't bear thinking about!

This is only the second time that the weather has caused us to cancel apple pressing, and, of course, last year, a small-scale apple pressing was combined with the Woodland's coffee morning. We have the Chapel's blessing to do it again, so the date to remember is a week next Saturday, 18th October 2025.

Come along between 10 am and 12 noon and enjoy the Tarvin Community Woodland Trust's Coffee Morning with Apple Pressing. Like the original apple pressing, the apple pressing outside the Chapel will be completely free. However, the Coffee Morning is one of the Woodland's few fundraisers. Come and enjoy a lovely cake with your hot drink, buy a bacon bap, have a go at the raffle and, most importantly, take the opportunity to talk to Trustees about the development of our woodland. Everyone has their own view about how the woodland should be managed, andif you don't tell the Trustees what you think, how can they know?

Outside, there will be an apple press, crushing and squeezing apples for all its worth. The kids love it – and so do the adults (but they won't admit it!)

Also outside the Chapel will be the Christmas Market Committee's stall selling crepes. Please don't forget that, for the Market to run, the committee have to raise hundreds of pounds to pay for the road closure, the insurance and other things before a single stall is put up. Supporting them is supporting a very special Tarvin event, without which the village really would not be the same.
