The Ashton Heyes and Tarvin Flower Club held its July meeting featuring a demonstration by Jane Tully, who presented arrangements inspired by ceramics.
Her first display showcased the Botanic Garden by Portmerion, using a mix of colourful flowers and herbs arranged in a basket surrounded by laurels.
Next, Jane used a deep blue trough to represent Wedgwood's Jasperware, incorporating various flower colours, with blue being the most common. The third design was influenced by a Moorcroft piece created for the RHS, called "For the Love of Orchids." This arrangement featured a Pot au Fleur design with orchids and test tubes presenting an array of blooms.
Jane's fourth creation drew inspiration from the famous Clarice Cliff, known for her bright pottery.
This arrangement included red-painted coca spades framing a vibrant display of yellow, red, and orange flowers, complemented by dark blue leaves.
Finally, she took cues from the tapestries at Haddon Hall, crafting her last design in a green urn filled with pink blooms.
Despite the heat, the flowers remained stunning, and attendees enjoyed strawberries and cream.
The club will not meet in August but will reconvene on September 10th at 7:30pm in theEdna Rose room for a talk byClare Downing titled "The Gift of Flowers."
