17 Beaver Scouts, aged 6-8, from 1st Tarvin Beavers set off on a litter pick around the village on Monday evening. For one hour, undeterred by the rain and wind, they enthusiastically scoured the paths, pavements and green spaces around the village in their efforts to collect as much rubbish as they could find. At the end of the evening, several bags of litter had been collected- mostly crisp packets, sweet wrappers, cartons and bottles.

This is an activity in which our Beavers regularly participate and one which they love! Not only does it help them work towards Global Awareness and Challenge badges, it also develops their sense of teamwork, encourages discussion around the impact of litter on wildlife and habitats and, most importantly, helps them appreciate their local community and understand how to value and look after it.

Our thanks to Cheshire West Council for providing us with litter picking equipment for the activity.
