Defibrillators in Tarvin

The Parish Council have for some time been planning to install a defibrillator at the Sheaf on Platts Lane. However, significant difficulties in identifying a suitable power source and getting a qualified company to install caused the costs to rise to a level that the Council could not justify.

At the Council meeting on Monday evening it was agreed to abandon the scheme. As an alternative the meeting agreed to install the defibrillator (which has already been purchased) in the grounds of Tarvin Community Centre to the right of the gate into the car park. The box holding the equipment will be sited so that it is accessible when the Centre gates are locked. Weekly monitoring of the equipment will be carried out by the Centre caretaker and reported on-line to the NHS.

The existing defibrillator at the Community Centre, which although on the outside of the building, is not accessible 24/7as the gates are locked overnight, so it will be taken down and used in the future for training NHS nurses.
