We had a very good attendance and several new members at our first meeting of the new season. Sarah Tomlinson is a newly qualified demonstrator and this was her first public demonstration. The flowers she used were all wonderful and she mixed her flowers well to give a very pleasing colour effect. Her assistant was her daughter, a very helpful young lady with a lovely smile.
As Sarah said, carrot cake, a mainly yellow design containing real carrots and walnuts on sticks, had no calories at all. This was followed by doughnuts, represented in a lovely door wreath that she expected to last until after Easter.
Whilst showing her floral apple pie she told us how she had worked out how many pies her grandmother had made in her life and how many days of her life that had taken in total.
Design 4 was a hand-tied design and Sarah gave us tips on making a framework to hold the construction. A chocolate log was designed in a log-fronted box, which was given with the flowers in the raffle. This was a parallel design. Candy floss was her finale. The container was made with great ingenuity by Sarah. The result was a pink all-round design.
Everyone who attended enthused about the evening. We even had real carrot cake, with calories, along with other cakes with our tea/coffee. Elizabeth had made these and they were delicious. Thanks too to Mary for her photographs.
The April meeting features Tracey Davies demonstrating, but we do not know her subject. Look for posters and on TOL nearer the date, which is the 14th. As usual, it will be in the Edna Rose room of the community centre from 7:30. Visitors will be welcomed.
