Irene's 80th Mile

Well, folks ... she's only gone and done it early!
Irene Brearey of Crossfields, Tarvin achieved her goal of running 80 miles before her 80th Birthday which will be on 1st January... she did her 80th mile on 29th December. She ran the last mile with her daughter-in-law, Jessica and celebrated with a glass of bubbly... they were welcomed home by her very proud son and grandsons.

Irene has so far raised £1891.85 for Tarporley cottage Hospital and Children in Need... That's a great result! "I really never thought I'd raise so much". Says Irene; who will not be putting her trainers away any time soon. "My daily runs really help me to cope with the challenge of caring for my husband who has dementia." Mick was diagnosed in 2014 and Irene has been caring for him for the last 6 years.

Daily exercise gives Irene more mental, emotional and physical energy to cope with the demands of caring for Mick who often can't even remember her name. It also gives her time to herself and a bit of headspace.
