The Office of National Statistics (ONS) data shows that house prices in the UK rose faster than the cost of living last year. The largest growth was in the southeast but growth was seen elsewhere across the UK. The ONS says that the rate of growth is fairly stable with not much change month-on-month.

So how do Tarvin house prices compare?

Well, we have to be very cautious about drawing too many conclusions. The number of houses sold in Tarvin is relatively small looking across the whole of Cheshire. This means that single, large sales, can have a large impact on the average price for a particular year.

The Property WebsiteZooplahas property sales of 24 in Tarvin in 2013 with an average price paid of £343,290 roughly consistent with the sales the previous two years (2011-2012). In 2009-2010 we saw a very small average drop in house prices in Tarvin with a recovery over the past 5 years both in terms of properties sold and average value.

This is compared to no growth across Cheshire during the same period.

Over the past year average property prices in Tarvin have grown by 7.2% compared to the rest of Cheshire (1.8%) and the rest of the UK (3.2%). However, this level of growth is very likely to be due to the type of property sold rather than a real increase in the house prices in the Village.

In conclusion, if you are lucky enough to own a property in Tarvin, it is a good investment
