The 80th anniversary of V.E. Day was celebrated in style at Tarvin Methodist Church with a delightful afternoon tea served to over 70 attendees. The event featured a performance by the talented Tarporley U3A Ukulele Band, who entertained the audience with music and songs that were popular during the Second World War. The atmosphere was filled with nostalgia and joy as everyone joined in the singing with great enthusiasm.
Despite a temporary loss of water supply during tea service, the spirit of the event remained undeterred, showcasing the resilience and camaraderie reminiscent of wartime. This gathering provided a wonderful opportunity to honour those who served and to reminisce about the actual day for many present.
It was heartening to see so many friends, both old and new, come together to celebrate this significant occasion. A heartfelt thank you is extended to everyone who supported the event and to those who made it possible, contributing to a successful celebration of this historic moment.
Ed: Great to see this event so well attended – another triumph for the fantastic crew at TMC!
