Macmillan Cancer Care really hit on a winning formula when they set up a network of simultaneous coffee mornings, each to take place on the last Friday in September each year. And, year by year, Tarvin Methodist Church has been a part of things, welcoming Tarvin folk to come and enjoy a cuppa and a cake in the welcoming surroundings of Chapel.
This year, the weather was not kind and we did think that people might stay away. Not a bit of it! A good crowd of people joined us – and stayed through the morning. The event raised over £300 for Macmillan, from donations (all the drinks and cakes were entirely free) and from the raffle. Yes, Methodists are now allowed to hold small, fundraising raffles – and the joke of the morning was that both the prizes of houseplants (a gloxinia and a begonia – both in glorious flower) were won by John Plant!
