The A54 layby was discussed at length at the April Tarvin Parish Council meeting and was also on the May meeting Agenda.

Advice from CWAC is that as the lay-by does not fall within the parish boundary of Tarvin the Parish council are unable to contribute any funds towards its clean up etc. However there are concerns about the activities that have been going on in the lay-by and that they do indeed affect the Parish of Tarvin in the same way they affect the neighbouring Parishes of Ashton and Kelsall and the local residents.

The residents Action Group led by Gary Goodwin, has drawn up an Action Plan, to which Stuart Bateman of CWAC has added his name against the points his department team are responsible for and intend to carry out 'soon'. CWAC will now undertake removal of all living, dead and fallen Goat Willow trees on the island once they have gone through their lengthy due process. This will hopefully leave us with just the stumps to grind, bramble removal, some top soil and seeding and perhaps some bulb planting.

Tarvin Council were asked to consider adding their formal support to the implementation of a Traffic Regulation Order on the lay-by which prohibits all over night parking.

Hopefully with the island cleared so users of the lay-by can be seen at all times, and with the TRO in place, all that is desperately wrong with the goings on in the lay-by at the moment can be brought to an abrupt end.
