A service of celebration and commemoration of 100 years of the RAF, conducted by the Rev Sue Levitt was held at Tarvin Methodist Church on Sunday April 29th.
The congregation was joined by many former serving personnel, veterans and invited guests and the service was a truly memorable occasion. With traditional RAF hymns and music, poems and readings which was very moving and invoked many memories. All of the readings were undertaken by the invited guests.
We were very pleased to welcome all who attended; official guests, friends,Tarvin residents and our own congregation. Offical Guests included Mrs Susan Sellers Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire, Group Captain Chuck Norris and Mrs Norris RAF Shawbury, Mrs Ceri Litster Squadron Leader Air Command High Wycombe, David Hanson Flight Lieutenant 418 squadron Air Cadets, Mr Peter Young RAFA (Standard Bearer), representative of Cheshire Police and Councillor John Leather and Mrs Leather
We offer our thanks to all who contributed to make this service a wonderful day of memory and thanksgiving for 100 years of the RAF and all the people who served.
After the service a light lunch was served when many memories and experiences were shared, prompted by the memorabilia on display by families of RAF personnel.
