Last weekend 40 Cubs and Scouts headed over to Forest Camp Activity Centre to enjoy a weekend of activities including raft building, navigation exercises, campfires and lots of food. Team building was the theme for the Cubs with activities like manually operating a 6m high crane with ropes and pulleys and helping each other with the trial of balance and courage required for the low ropes time challenge.
We enjoyed two good days of sunshine then the rain came as we packed up. However this did little to dampen spirits.
The camp was the first camp where some of the activity leaders were from the first cohort of Beavers from our restart over 10 years ago as we look to grow our own leaders. We also brought a few more adults into the group, some completely new to the movement.
This week sees the return to normal activities with the Scouts initially preparing for the delayed Cheshire Hike, a two-day weekend competition around the county and also planning some evening kayaking on the River Dee.
Continued high demand means we (and Tarvin Guides) are always looking for volunteers to be part of our leaders teams as we look to provide local young people with skills of life – and create great memories.
Volunteering is flexible and can be both working directly with our young people or in a support role fundraising or maintaining the Scout and Guide Hut
Scouts are looking to start a second Scout troop for 10.5 to 14 year olds as well as looking to launch our own website later this year.
