Spring Flowers in Tarvin Woodland

While looking through information from the Wildlife Trusts, Karen Gerrard (one of the Woodland Trustees) came across a sheet for Spring Flower Spotters. (The sheet can be found here )

It shows ten spring wildflowers to be on the lookout for – and NINE of them are to be found in Tarvin's woodland. You won't necessarily be able to find them all NOW – some (like the snowdrops) have been and gone already. Others, (like the bluebells) are yet to flower and the missing one – Winter aconite – just isn't present. However, you will find cowslips, wild daffodils, lesser celandines, primroses, ramsons (wild garlic), wood anemone and wood sorrel. You will also find one not mentioned – we have the nodding heads of snakes head fritillary flowers hiding among the grass!

Keep your eyes open when you go for a walk – the woodland is much more than trees (and mud, thanks to all the rain!).
