In October 1994, one of two Burnley teenagers, entered the Ian Littler Pharmacy in Manor House and, after threatening the assistant pharmacist, Mrs Wardle, and her female colleague with what thankfully turned out to be a fake gun, made off up the High Street with £95 in cash from the till.
The quick action to raise the alarm by the two women, who were understandably shaken but otherwise unhurt, resulted in the police swooping on the village minutes later. The two raiders were apprehended and subsequently appeared before Chester magistrates on charges of armed robbery.
