A year off for the Tarvin Woodland Run

We had a tremendously successful Woodland Run in 2023 and we know that everyone who was involved was hoping we would put the event on again. Preparations were underway to organise the 2024 edition and we had advertised a 'Save the Date' for 15th September. However, we ran into a few snags. Last year, we were extremely fortunate to receive very generous sponsorship of £2,850 from local businesses, which meant that we could afford to put on great facilities for all and keep the entry fees low.

This year, we were quite a way off last year's sponsorship total and some of our costs were forecast to be higher. The surplus last year for our charity (Tarvin Community Woodland Trust) was £650, but we didn't want to risk reducing that margin. In addition, we realised that some our team did not have the personal time available in the lead up to the event or on the event day itself. So, we have decided that, although it is disappointing that we are not able to deliver a Woodland Run this year, we will redouble our efforts next year so that we can provide Tarvin with as good an event as was the inaugural Woodland Run.

We do have a good number of able and willing volunteers on our organising group, and we would like to thank them for the work they have put in to date. It is good to be able to say that it is not because of a shortage of volunteers that we have postponed this year's woodland run!
