What we do
The Tarvin Educational Foundation is the Charity set up to manage the Endowment of the old Tarvin Grammar School. The purpose of the Charity is to assist the Educational needs of students of secondary school age and older who live in the Ancient Parish of Tarvin. This assistance may take the form of financial assistance for tuition fees, maintenance, books, musical instruments, and travel on approved courses. These awards are made by the Governors who are representatives of the Parish Councils of Tarvin, Kelsall, Ashton, & Clotton Hoofield, together with a Cheshire West Council Representative and up to three co-opted members.
During the past year ( 2012-2013) twenty four students received awards to a total of £7950. Most of the grants were to undergraduate students on University courses. Several students attending local colleges were also given travel assistance. One student was given support for an expedition to the Himalayas and two were assisted for an expedition to Uganda to take part in a Community Development Project.
The Governors are happy to consider any application made on behalf of students residing in the qualifying area. These should be received by early September.
