Having found that the new mobile staging had taken up less space that anticipated (See story published on Wednesday June 2nd) The Community Centre has been left with some unused space in the shed. At the Committee meeting on Tuesday, June 1st, it was suggested that the Centre should acquire two full-sized, folding and portable table tennis tables.

Table tennis has been a staple of Youth Clubs for many years and has also enjoyed a growing popularity among older age groups. Playing helps maintain mobility and increases concentration while having the added bonus of competition. Like many activities it can also generate an excellent reason for going out and meeting other people in an informal social setting, so important for mental resilience.

Vice Chair Sue Hardacre said "We want to ensure that we can offer people the widest possible range of activities and across a wide age range. The cost of tables is quite significant, so it would be good to know if there was some demand before we decide to proceed."

If you have any views on this, or think it is an activity you would be delighted to try, please email the Committee on bookings@tarvincommunitycentre.org
