Blessed by sunshine, the Tarvin Woodlands Apple Pressing day last Saturday was as lovely as it has ever been. A really delightful community event. It really is one of my absolute favourite of all the community events I attend in Tarvin or anywhere else for that matter. vA relaxed and happy atmosphere, lots of people chatting over a drink of delicious apple juice or a cuppa and something tasty to eat or bringing apples to make juice to take home to drink or maybe turn it into something a little more potent! .
Delicious food was served from the barbecue by the lovely people from the Methodist Church and the Tarvin Christmas Market did a roaring trade at their fundraising pancake stall, making well over 100 pancakes! Teas and coffees from the woodland volunteers kept everyone's thirst well slaked and there was plenty to do on the craft stall.
This year, we were in for a new and wonderful treat: Marjorie and Robert Armitage brought along a display of their incredibly detailed and exquisite woodcarvings. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Many people were involved in making this a huge success and key to it was the teamwork so evident especially at the end, even when everyone was tired, there was a willing team of people clearing away equipment and taking down tables and gazebos... another superb demonstration of many hands making lighter work.
Village organisations are always on the lookout for more volunteers to help put on these events. The Tarvin Woodlands, Tarvin Christmas Market Group and the Methodist Church all want to say a huge thank you to all of the lovely volunteers who made the day such a delightful one.
