The April meeting theme was "All Things Bright and Beautiful", and the event, as expected, was a colourful one.
Namiya Sianga produced five very colourful designs, and during the demonstration, she told us of her childhood in Zambia and her more recent visits to her country of birth. When she arrived in Britain in the 90's, she missed the bright colours that she had been used to.
All the designs were bright and beautiful, but some specifically followed the words of the well-known hymn.
A container with a snail gave us the small creatures, whilst the great creature was a large woven giraffe's head, which looked good with sunflowers.
Namiya's final design was a wow. She had covered a circular frame with orange fabric upon which she displayed red anthuriums with shiny green foliage. All images shown here were provided by the Ashton Hayes and Tarvin Flower Club (click on each image to enlarge).
In May, Sharon Nolan, our own member demonstrator, will show us "Tea-time with Flowers". The meeting will be held at 7-30pm, May 13th, in the Edna Rose room of the Tarvin Community Centre.
The annual garden visit takes place in June. If you are interested in going and have not yet put your name on the visit list please contact June on 01829 740473.
