There was a good turn out on Wednesday evening for our Christmas demonstration. We hadn't invited any out of area stallholders to have a stall this year but with spaced seating and our own stalls the hall was full.
Donald Morgan had stepped in at late notice to help us when the lady who had been booked for months let us down. His demonstration was planned especially for us and was stunning. He has a florist's shop in mid Wales so his flowers were excellent. Some demonstrators at Christmas add many baubles and glitter to provide the wow factor and then remove them when the design is raffled but he only added one or two additions and these remained in the designs.
Two designs, one arranged on a basket ring and the other a continental design were predominately in pink and purple as pink is the colour for this year. Both were very different despite similar colours. He concentrated on green for a design and used only green chrysanthemums with much attractive foliage.
One design was in a lovely bright red vase which was like a bauble. It contained mainly red and also had some exotic flowers. This design was the centrepiece of the stage for the evening. Another design fronted a metal alternative Christmas tree and this he was planning to use in his shop for the season.
The final arrangement was in a large natural coloured urn. He used red and green foliage to which he added cotoneaster berries as well as red carnations, red lilies, deep red gerbera, chrysanthemums in rust and yellow and sunflowers. Finally some exotic flowers were added and some silver picks.
These designs can all be seen in the photographs taken by June Pughe.
Refreshments followed. The homemade cake and fancies were enjoyed by all.
We have no meeting in December . But on January 12th 2022 we have a return visit of a favourite demonstrator, Sionedd Hughes who over many years has kept us amused with stories of the farm and her family. She also arranges flowers very well. The meeting will be in the main hall of the Community centre starting at 7-30pm. I can guarantee a hilarious evening. Visitors are always very welcome.
