Sionedd Hughes did not let us down. We had reported that this evening would be excellent and it most certainly was.
As I entered the Edna Rose room on Wednesday evening, 13th Jan, there were hoots of laughter from the committee -- Sionedd from near Oswestry was already amusing people.
Her demonstration was entitled "Superstitions" and each of her very varied designs depicted a superstition.
Her 1st design was "A Walk in the Spring" , below, used an old wooden stile and contained spring flowers.
Design 2 was an" Ode to Ireland" where she designed around 4 large imitation clover leaves.
She has told us on previous visits of her bachelor brother, now aged 55,, who has so far evaded marriage despite pressure from friends and family. She recounted his visit last year to the Irish Matchmaking Festival and its results -- still no sister-in-law!
A striking design representing a cracked and broken mirror came next
and was followed by a quick and easy but no less attractive design depicting a ladder.
Number 5 design
was touch wood in a lovely wooden urn and her final flowers numbered 13 in a stunning arrangement of dark red gerbera.
How our spirits were lifted by this lady who has 2 obvious talents -- an ability to amuse an audience and an artistic eye to arranging flowers. Her sense of fun is so catching.
I believe this was her 4th visit to Tarvin and I'm sure we will have her back (if only to hear about her brother!)
Our next meeting will be on 10th February at 7-30 when Janet Hughes will demonstrate on" Flowers for Pleasure" Come and join us. Visitors are very welcome.
