Our demonstrator Carron White only qualified 5 months ago but she was really confident. She produced 6 designs which were all different styles and even produced 3 extras in Blue Peter style! Her title "5 A Day"did involve fruit and vegetables but not used within her designs. She recycled where she could, used biodegradable floral foam and stressed the need for a healthy lifestyle.

Design1 was an example of re-using plastic waste so Carron had made a collar of used drinking straws which transformed a small design into a dramatic one called "Peaches and cream" She was encouraging eating lots of fruit instead of processed puddings.

No 2 stressed eating citrus fruits in particular and was called "Oranges and Lemons" The design was mainly orange and yellow roses and finally was displayed in a glass vase containing the fruit. She had produced a smaller version of the same design.

We were encouraged to drink more water with arrangement 3. This was a horizontal pink and white design. I think the majority of the audience felt guilty about this one.

More re-use of old items was shown in an l- shaped design of mainly roses. They were contained in an old shortbread tin which was displayed on a black and gold stand made from old magazines. This represented relieving ourselves of stress.

A stunning design followed with red anthuriums arranged in a wooden salad bowl and standing on a wood pedestal to encourage us to eat salads.

Carron's finale used a long tray covered with grey sprayed C. D's. "A Good Nights Sleep" was the topic. The design contained peace lilies (clear the air of toxins), bay leaves (aid sleep if burned for a few hours before bed), Lavandar and gerberas (purify air and give out oxygen).

There were so many designs that they were difficult to photograph but the finished effect was quite spectacular.

On April 10th we have Janet Hughes with the title "Influential Women". This will be a thought provoking evening.
