Ashton Hayes and Tarvin Flower Club.
July Meeting.

Our demonstrator this month was Marina Ashton from New Brighton. She is new to demonstrating and has yet to pass her test. Some clubs do not want to use untested demonstrators but we feel we should encourage them to achieve their aim by giving them a practice.

The subject title was Food among the Flowers. These 2 things are Marina's passion and she has combined them in an innovative way.

Her 1st design was a table centre for a meal and then she went through the courses. Pink gin in a large glass was followed by a large bowl to represent a soup tureen which held herbs, sweetcorn, carrots, spring onions and chillies as well as flowers and foliage.

For the main course we had a plate mounted on a stand which was used for a pave design with white roses and cow parsley as potato, Reddish brown leaves for meat and vegetables of rolled bergenia leaves, carrots, sprouts, tomatoes and mushrooms on sticks.

To follow we had a representation of an ice cream cone with gladioli and chocolate coloured leaves along with various flowers and foliage.

Marina's final arrangement was for a special dinner party and was mainly in shades of green and white with feathers added.

We hope this chance has helped Marina on her way.

After the demonstration and raffle we all enjoyed strawberries and Clotton clotted cream with our drink and chat to friends.

There is no meeting in August. September 11th will be the next demonstration when Becca Morris will entertain us with her title of Around the World.
