Some properties are placing out additional domestic bins for emptying that have not been authorized. While CWaC provides additional capacity for people with genuine needs, it is noticed that some people are presenting more than one unauthorized black bin for collection. A pilot, starting June 29, will begin to place stickers on bins which are presented for collection but have not been authorized by the CWaC. The majority of residents across the borough are provided with a standard 180-liter black bin for their domestic waste.
All domestic crews will continue to empty unauthorised domestic waste bins that are presented. However, a sticker (see attached image provided by CWaC) will be placed over the opening of the bin lid to seal the container shut.
Once a sticker has been placed on a bin, if residents do require the additional bin, they can apply for additional capacity by using the information provided on the sticker or by using the hotlink below. They can also arrange for the bin to be removed if the bin is not required. If the unauthorized bin continues to be presented after this time, it will not be emptied.
Collection crews are aware of residents who have been allocated additional domestic waste capacity as this information is available on their in-cab devices. Residents with approved additional domestic capacity are also sent a permit to place on their domestic bin.
