From Doreen De Cani
It was a very busy weekend at Tarvin Methodist Church and cakes and more cakes were high on the menu.
Starting with our McMillan Coffee Morning on Friday where tables laden with home made cakes and a regular supply of tea and coffee made a warm welcome to our steady flow of supporters to this wonderful charity and the essential work they do.
The coffee morning was continued on Saturday morning with more cakes and also jigsaws and books on the sale table. Thank you to all our supporters and their generous donations for the work of McMillan nurses.
Saturday morning was also our day to decorate the church ready for the Harvest Festival on Sunday. Donations of dried and tinned goods are to be given to the food bank and the fruit and veg will be sold among us.
Sunday morning was a hive of activity before the service began with the preparation of the harvest lunch . Many hands make light work!
The service taken by our minister Rev Jo Brown was a traditional celebration of the harvest and a reminder of all the goodness given to us for which we give our heartfelt thanks.
The harvest decorations made a fitting backdrop both to the service and the harvest lunch enjoyed by many friends.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this celebration of the harvest and for the ladies who prepared and served the most welcome harvest lunch.
Our activities continue this week with Splash on Wednesday, soup lunch followed by knit and natter on Thursday and the usual coffee on Saturday morning. Anyone who would like to come along will be most welcome.
