Winter Fuel Scam Alert – Protect Our Pensioners!

The Council's Trading Standards officers are warning residents about a winter fuel scam targeting vulnerable pensioners.
Fraudsters are sending text messagesthat direct recipients to a fake website. Victims are then asked to enterpersonal and banking details, under the false pretence of applying for winter fuel support.

Important Advice:

• Do not click on links in unsolicited text messages.
• The government does not require you to apply online or provide bank details for winter fuel payments.
• Always use official websites (e.g., GOV.UK) for benefit information.
• Report suspicious messages to Action Fraud or call 0300 123 2040.
