Christmas Church Flowers

On 18th December six ladies set about decorating St Andrew's Church ready for Christmas. All these ladies are Flower club members who live in the village and enjoy arranging flowers. We do not all attend Church but enjoy making this important part of our village look attractive. We decorate the Church three times during the year, at Easter and harvest thanksgiving as well as Christmas. Unlike the other times of the year when we use fresh flowers with foliage from our gardens, at Christmas we use exotic silk flowers and baubles along with colour sprayed foliage. There are also plenty of candles to be seen.

We decide in advance our Christmas colour scheme and find that the silver and white theme used this year is probably the most successful as it stands out well in the dark surroundings.

At the moment, with Covid cases rising and uncertainty over rules, we are unsure whether our January meeting will happen. The demonstrator Sionedd Hughes is one of our favourites. She is extremely funny and keeps us highly amused as well as arranging flowers beautifully. She has kindly allowed us to make a decision on the weekend before which is 8th/ 9th of January. We will confirm the situation on TOL before the meeting on 12th. We hope we can go ahead as she is the person to brighten dismal times.
