The last night of the 2017 Village Quiz ended in a close contest between last year's winners, the Bowling Club and Tarvin Meeting Point with the latter just edging into the lead to claim the trophy for the third time. TMP were helped by an excellent 'quick fire' round where 12 questions must be answered in one minute. Their team members were Pat Bogunovic, Jane Lush, Sue Hardacre and Maddie Sheppard, substituting for Linda Poulter.
The organisers had to make some readjustments when one team, granted a bye from the previous Friday, were unable to get a team together at the last minute. Rather than confuse the contest with another bye, the team with the highest loosing score in the first round of the evening were invited back to have another go, a solution which satisfied everyone.
Margaret Dixon, who has been organising the Quiz for many years now, was delighted not only with the participation of several new teams but also by the number of supporters who came along on both evenings. With the £2 entry for non-team members, a raffle and the bar, the evening raised over £640.00 for the Community Centre.
Quizzes remain very popular and the Community Centre has booked Saturday March 25th for a Table Top Quiz and hopes that people will come along and enjoy the evening. At this quiz there will be eight rounds of ten questions for teams of four players. Only the question-master will have to make the long walk to the stage!
