Summer holiday support
Available for families who receive Free School Meals and need help with essential food costs during the school holidays. Applications through the Council's Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) will open on Tuesday, 30 June 2026.
Free School Meals From September 2026,
Families who receive Universal Credit will automatically qualify for Free School Meals. However, families will still need to submit an application in order to receive them.
Terminal Illness Council tax exemption:
To ease financial pressure at an incredibly difficult time, the Council has introduced a local exemption, meaning that residents living with a terminal illness in Cheshire West and Chester will no longer be required to pay Council Tax.
The Bread and Butter Thing,
A community initiative bringing affordable food to local areas, with a short video available to watch online featuring a visit to their hub at Westminster Community Centre in Ellesmere Port.
TV Licence Savings Stamps
Residents who hold old TV Licence Savings Stamps are reminded that they may be eligible for a refund, but must act before the deadline of 31 December 2026.
Loan Shark Warning:
The newsletter warns against loan sharks, noting that more than one million people in England are currently in debt to illegal lenders. Knowing the warning signs can help protect you and your finances.
