Cleaning Up Cheshire's Streets

john dwyer

Drugs and alcohol abuse are clearly recognised as key causes of harm within our communities, leading to increased levels of crime, family breakdown and poverty. The impact can vary from being a victim of crime, living in an area where drugs and alcohol are creating anti-social behaviour or living with someone who is dependent on one or both of them, causing misery and pain to individuals and families and undermining communities.
I am committed to tackling this and have tasked the Chief Constable with this as a key objective in my Police & Crime Plan.

I've been pleased to hear that over the past few weeks the Constabulary has been taking action which has significantly disrupted the flow of drugs in and around the county. For example, in Chester 37 people pleaded guilty to supplying Class A drugs. A number of raids have happened across the county and have resulted in a number of cannabis farms being closed and drugs being seized. The dedication and hard work conducted by everyone involved in the disruption of the drugs market should be applauded, as everyone is helping to make Cheshire a safer place to live and work.
