Days Out – Boat Museum at Ellesmere Port

Our July outing to the Ellesmere Port boat museum was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all who went.

We were all surprised to see how much the museum had changed since our last visit. A new cafe, with easy access, where excellent tea and cake revived us at the end of the visit.

There is so much to see with many indoor exhibitions as well as the canal itself and the many boats moored. On going restoration of large and small vessels could be seen and questions answered by some of the many volunteers. A visit to the Power Hall was memorable for the size and noise of the engines demonstrated to us by another enthusiastic volunteer.

With many changes made to give easy access via flat surfaces and a lift this is an excellent museum for people of all ages and abilities to visit and enjoy.
