Pandora's box and many other stories, ideas and helpful floral hints were amusingly told by Carron White, our demonstrator. She arranged five designs, all different in many ways. Two of these were completed without floral foam, which can be difficult for a demonstration where the designs are then raffled. The 1st was in a plastic ice cream container with tape in a grid at the top, and the other one was also taped and was in a glass mixing bowl.
Another design featured a wreath ring made into a table design incorporating dyed multicoloured roses. A very dark and dramatic arrangement seemed to be the favourite, mainly with spider chrysanthemums. Her final design was bridal and featured a large orchid, along with pale pink and peach flowers. Her purple designs had a good background from the curtains in the Edna Rose room, which usually clash with most designs.
Homemade cakes with our drink made for a very successful evening. The next meeting is on May 18th, when we visit "The Old Parsonage Gardens" at Cotebrook. Members wishing to go who haven't put their name down, please contact Merryn or June
For Flower club members reading this report please be aware that the date for the garden visit is May 18th and not the date on your membership card.
