Footpaths

When the Neighbourhood Plan was being prepared, many residents said that easy access to the countryside was one of the things that they liked most about living in Tarvin parish.

Access to the countryside is mainly achieved by using the many public footpaths that radiate from the built-up areas. Sadly, many of our footpaths are in a poor state of repair or even blocked.

It would be very helpful to compile a comprehensive database of those local footpaths which need maintenance or unblocking. If you are out walking around Tarvin or Oscroft, it would be very helpful if you could send me details of the problems you come across. You will need to be as precise as possible about the location and nature of the problem. Once I have a comprehensive list, I will report the problems to Cheshire West and Chester Council, which is responsible for maintaining the footpath network, and to the Parish Council, which is interested in seeing that footpaths in the parish are fit for purpose.

Like me, you may also want to think about taking a pair of secateurs with you when you go for a walk. These can be used to trim back overgrown branches, brambles etc, especially around stiles.

Send your information to Ted Lush, Woodlea, Platts Lane, Tarvin CH3 8LH, or email to lushfamily2@tiscali.co.uk
