The Government is Bottling it

The countryside and our village are littered with discarded, single-use drinks bottles and cans, harming wildlife, polluting waterways and spoiling the beauty of our surroundings.

And it's completely unnecessary.

Many Environment and countryside groups have been calling for the solution for more than a decade – a simple system that prevents the littering of drinks containers and ensures recycling rates of over 90%: an all-in Deposit Return Scheme (DRS).

In May 2018, the government committed to putting a DRS in place. But in 2021 we are still waiting and, that commitment seems to have been forgotten.

So, CPRE, the countryside charity, is sending a message in a bottle, signed by thousands of us, directly to the Prime Minister.
