23 -- 29 January marks Cheshire West and Chester Libraries annual Health and Wellbeing week

Cheshire West and Chester Libraries will, once again, host aHealth and Wellbeing Weekin in the last week of January. The library service teams up with a range of partners to offer free activities to help support and improve residents' mental and physical wellbeing. This year's partners include Age UK, Brio Leisure, Cheshire Police, Cheshire West Communities Together, Healthbox, Healthwatch, the Road Safety Team and Starting Well, plus many more.

Healthwatch will be on hand to hear your views, needs and experiences of health and social care in the area, and Brio Leisure will be offering health checks and information about Cheshire Change Hub.
Lots of activities in libraries are planned between Monday 23 to Sunday 29 January 2023.

Tarvin Library Events:

Tuesday 24 January:
3pm – 5pm: Healthwatch advice session
Advice and support provided about local health services. Drop in

3.30pm – 5.30pm: Lego club
Creative fun for all the family. Drop in

Thursday 26 January:
1.30pm – 3pm: Age UK advice session
Information and support for older people. Drop in.

2.30pm – 3pm: Rhymetime
Songs and rhymes for toddlers and preschool children. Drop in.

2.30pm – 3.30pm: Drive safely for longer
Aimed at people age 60 years and over who have an interest in updating their driving skills and knowledge, as well as for those who want help in adapting to a new vehicle or simply want to gain more confidence. Book via the library or atTicket Source

Bird textile crafts for adults. All materials provided. Drop in.

Thursday 26 January, 3.30pm – 4.30pm: Big garden birdwatch craft
Children's craft to tie in with the Big Garden Birdwatch. Drop in.

Thursday 26 January, 3.30pm – 5pm: Lego club
Creative fun for all the family. Drop in.

Thursday 26 January, 3.30pm – 5pm: Age UK advice session
Information and support for older people. Drop in.

The Storyhouse, Chester

Tuesday 24 January, 10am – 12pm: Family history buddy
Our volunteers will be available in the library to help you to get started on finding out about your family history and answer any queries that you may have. Drop in.

Tuesday 24 January, 10.30am – 11am / 11.30am – 12pm: Rhymetime
Songs and rhymes for preschool children. Drop in.

Tuesday 24 January, 2pm – 3pm: Animal handling for adults
Come and see a variety of animals, insects or reptiles. You can handle them or just listen and learn about them. Studies show that stroking an animal can help lower your blood pressure and being near them can help lower anxiety and stress levels. Booking essential.

Tuesday 24 January, 5pm – 6pm: Young readers
Chat about all things book-related and contribute to the development of the young adult section of the library. There is no set reading, just come along and share your thoughts. Drop in.

Wednesday 25 January, 10.30am: Scrabble club
Whether you're a beginner or a Scrabble pro, test out your wordplay skills with Storyhouse's Scrabble Club. Scrabble Boards are available in The Kitchen ready for you to play at your leisure.

Wednesday 25 January, 11am – 12.30pm: Mindfulness pebble decorating
Join the library team for a session of pebble painting, where you will create and execute designs for your stones using acrylic paint. All materials provided. Everyone is an artist, so come along – no experience needed. Drop in.

Wednesday 25 January, 2pm – 4pm: Age UK advice session
Information and support for older people. Drop in.

Taster singing session, in the Storytelling room. Drop in

Friday 27 January, 11am – 12pm: Not a reading group
No required reading necessary. Come and talk about books that you've read, those that you've enjoyed, those that you would recommend and those you are looking forward to reading. Drop in.

Friday 27 January, 11am – 3pm: Mindfulness colouring and doodling
Colouring and doodling can be a healthy way to relieve stress. Come and calm your brain and help your body relax. Drop in.

Friday 27 January, 2pm – 3.30pm: Shared Reading with the Reader
Shared reading group, bringing people together and stories and poems to life. No pressure to talk or to read aloud, you can simply come along and listen. Drop in.

Saturday 28 January / Sunday 29 January, 11am – 4pm: Children's crafts
Come and be creative, with lots of new craft ideas to try out. Drop in.
