Tarvin School is holding a "Grounds Day" this coming Saturday 1st Sept and are asking for any volunteers in the village to come along, with any tools etc, to help with the school grounds which will be open from 8 am.

Below is the email from the Headteacher to parents.

"Dear Parents

I hope this finds you well. School is looking great with the MUGA, new toilets and ICT suite having been completed this summer.

As per my e-mail before the summer break, I am hoping that some of our parent community may be able to come and spend a little time on Saturday morning to help us with some work on the school grounds in preparation for the new term. Mr Turner and I will be at school from 8am on Saturday and any help would be appreciated. I am sure that with your help we could achieve much in a few hours. If you can help, bringing some garden tools/gloves/power washers etc would be really useful.

Jobs that we need help with are as follows:

  • Painting of several sheds
  • Removal of at least one shed
  • Painting of gates, playhouse and planters
  • Power washing of play areas outside Reception and Y1 classes (please bring power washer if can do this)
  • Power washing of outside of school walls (please bring power washer if can do this)
  • Leaf sweeping and removal around the school
  • Weeding of playground, kitchen garden, along the front fence outside school
  • Tidying up of front garden outside main entrance
  • Turfing of areas outside front entrance
  • Branch cutting- Walnut Tree, Willow Tunnel, orchard, around playground and across back of the field by the woodland, cutting back of any branches in our woodland.
  • Dispersal of wood chippings in orchard

So, if you could spend an hour or two on Saturday morning, we would be very grateful.

A reminder also that Monday is an INSET day and we are looking forward to welcoming the children back in on Tuesday morning."
